Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Your health questions stay private. Here is exactly what happens to them.

Textuncle is built to be private first. Many people ask Uncle about a medicine label, a lab result, a symptom, or a letter from their doctor. This page explains what we do with that kind of information. It is our consumer health data privacy policy under Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada law, and similar state laws, and it applies to everyone who uses Uncle, wherever they live.

Our promises

What health information we may have

Only what you choose to send Uncle. That can include questions or details about a health condition or symptom, a medicine, vitamin or supplement, a test or lab result, a doctor visit or treatment, or anything else about your physical or mental health. It can also be a photo, such as a medicine label or a letter from your doctor.

We do not ask for health information. We do not buy it or get it from anyone else, and we do not try to work out anything about your health from other information.

Where it comes from

Why we use it

We collect and use it only because you asked Uncle for help with it. We do not use it for anything else. If that ever changed, we would ask for your permission first.

How long we keep it

Who handles it

We never share your health information with family members, employers, insurers, advertisers, or data brokers. We have no affiliates that receive it.

Your rights

To make a request, email privacy@textuncle.com from any address and include your phone number. We may text that number to confirm the request is yours. We answer within 45 days, and it is free.

Appeals. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word Appeal. We will decide within 45 days and explain why. If we still say no, you can file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint, or with your own state's attorney general.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored encrypted, and access is limited. Regular text messages travel through phone carriers and are not end to end encrypted, so send only what Uncle needs to help you. Never text Social Security numbers, insurance ID numbers, passwords, or one time codes.

Changes

If we change how we use health information, we will update this page first, and we will ask for your permission before using it for anything new.
